Shelley Watkins' Story Comes to National Television
"True Crime Story" features our Season 1 case this Thursday
Hey listeners!
Our Season 1 case is hitting national TV. “True Crime Story: It Couldn't Happen Here” is premiering a new season this Thursday, and the first episode covers the unresolved death of Shelley Watkins. Here’s the trailer for the new season:
They even interviewed Season 1 host Carol Dawson for the episode. Here’s what Carol had to say about it:
“When the TV crew of “True Crime Story: It Couldn't Happen Here” came to Austin to interview me for the show about Shelley Watkins's murder, I was struck by their seriousness, efficiency, the thoroughness of their prior research, and most of all, their empathy for the subject and the people who have had to carry the weight of Shelley's death all these years.
Wrongful death and its burden is a subject they regularly deal with in small communities all over the country — the families of murder victims, the people unjustly convicted of murder, the long unanswered questions that leave loved ones traumatized for years and decades.
The attention the whole crew paid to details, and the probing and intelligent questions they asked, convinced me that they were truly performing a service to Shelley's fate and memory, and not just aiming for sensation and a sensationalized narrative about Shelley's tragedy.”
We’re excited to tune in, and hope you are too! — Aislyn
