Season 6 is here!
Listen to the first episode of Who Killed Missy Bevers? now!
Hey listeners!
I’m so excited to share the first episode of season 6! This one is a case I think a lot of you true crime buffs will already know — or at least have heard of. Season 6 is called Who Killed Missy Beavers?, and it’s about a fitness instructor who was murdered inside a church in Midlothian, Texas, in April 2016, just before her early morning fitness class. The killer was caught on the church’s security cameras wearing full police tactical gear — helmet, mask, bulletproof vest — wandering the halls, trying doors, swinging a hammer around. And this person has never been identified. Ten years later, there is still no suspect.

Missy made a Facebook post before she left for the church that morning because it was raining and she didn’t want her students to bail on class. The post said, “If it’s raining, we’re still training.” When Missy arrived around 4:30 a.m., the person in the tactical gear was already there waiting.
This season is hosted and reported by Zoe Kuhlkin, who’s worked on podcasts for The Wall Street Journal, CBS, and Sony, just to name a few. We’re super lucky to have her working on The Unforgotten this season!
Episode 1 is called “Murder at the Church,” and in addition to laying out what happened that morning, it introduces two women — Renae and Crystal — who met in a Facebook group about Missy’s case, became close friends, and eventually started their own podcast about it, called True Crime Broads. This season covers their years of interviews and analysis, along with new reporting and research.
This case is pretty complicated, but it’s just so crazy to me that the entire murder is on video and it’s still never been solved?!
There are still a lot of questions to be answered. Was Missy targeted, or was she just in the wrong place at the wrong time? Go listen to Episode 1, and we’ll see you next week!
