Finally, good news for Shelley Watkins' case!
The reason we haven't released new episodes for Season 1: The Labor Day Ghost
Hey there!
Carol and I have an important update to share with listeners of Season 1: The Labor Day Ghost.
Earlier this year, Carol used her connections to get in touch with a veteran member of public law enforcement. She told him all about the unresolved murder of Shelley Salter Watkins in Corsicana — and he listened. Carol and the investigator have gone on to talk and email extensively over the last many months. We have also given him most of the materials we’ve acquired through our reporting. (There were only a handful of things we couldn’t share due to promises we made to confidential sources.)
Witnesses are still coming out of the woodworks to give us crucial information regarding Shelley’s murder — information we pass along. That said, we’re convinced that disclosing new details to the public right now could impede the case at a time when it’s finally in capable hands. For that reason, we’ve decided to hold off on releasing new episodes regarding Shelley’s murder, at least for now.
We were the squeaky wheels when the case was cold. Now it’s time for us to get out of the way and give law enforcement the best possible shot at delivering justice for Shelley.
We’ll reveal it all eventually. It will be worth the wait, we promise!
In the meantime …
Adam and Kyle plan to release two more bonus episodes of Season 3: Finding Dolores Wulff.
Carol is hard at work on her book.
Next month, I’m launching season 4 of The Unforgotten. It’s a Texas true crime mystery that’s haunted and puzzled me since the moment I heard about it. I’ll let you know when it’s ready.
As always, thank you for supporting the work we do with The Unforgotten. — Wes
